Social services
The social services centre runs the following social services:

Adult social work and income support: income support is applied for either in writing or in person from the social services department. Income support application forms and instructions are available from the advice point.

Child protection: social work, children's home and family support

Child custody and support: child welfare officers are responsible, among other things, for investigating and confirming paternity when the child's mother is not married when the child is born

Care of the disabled: the town runs the ten-bed group home Mäntykoti providing round-the-clock sheltered accommodation for people with learning disabilities, and a daycare unit where afternoon activities are organised for school-age students with learning disabilities.

Work with refugees: work with refugees is mainly carried out by the refugee secretary and two social workers
