Rules of the library

Loan periods

Books, printed music and sound recordings: four weeks
Magazines: two weeks
Videocassettes, DVD's and CD-ROM's: one week
Reference library loans: overnight or over weekend
Interlibrary loans: according to the rules of the sending library

Loan period may be extended max. five times if there are no reservations for the material.

Borrowing and using the material in the library is free.

Lost, damaged or unreturned material must be compensated.

Possible fees and compensations must be paid fully always before the end of a year.
Maximum amount of unpaid fees and compensation is 10 €. After that loaning is prohibited.

Library card

The library card costs you nothing. You can get the card from the library by showing your identity card. Children under 15 years must have a parent's permission.

If you lose your library card, you get a new one for a charge. Inform immediately the library of the loss, as the owner of the card is responsible for all the material borrowed with his/her card.

Always inform the library about the change of name or address.
You can use the same library card in Savonlinna main library, the music library, mobile library and Savonranta, Enonkoski, Kerimäki and Punkaharju libraries. Keep your library card always with you.

Savonlinna town library is a part of the library network. If the material you need is not available it can be asked from other libraries. For interlibrary loans there is a charge.
Terminals for public use except for the mobile library. You can also search information in the web library Web-Origo (a link in the library's home page).
Access to the Internet. Time limit either 15 minutes, 30 minutes or one hour. Free wireless network (WLAN) in the main library.
Microfilm and microfiche reading equipment in the main library.
Photocopying machines except for the mobile library.
The personnel of the library gives you advice in the use of the collections and answers your questions.
